You can't save them to a MMC or SD card?

Page 99 of the 997 manual, export all nav data.

    Export All Nav Data (Advanced)

Export All Nav Data allows you to export all saved Tracks, Waypoints and Routes to an MMC/SD card.

    To Export All Navigation Data:
    1. Make sure you are in Advanced User Mode, and that an optional purchase MMC/SD card is installed in the slot, then highlight Export All Nav Data on the Navigation main menu.
    2. Use the RIGHT 4-WAY Cursor Control key to export all navigation
    data.

Mine stays off the boat when not in use . And never had that problem. May be something to do with the setting on it?

    Default Waypoints

My 997 does,nt lose the w.p. when the power is disconnected --I think the w.p.s are on the sd card
Either that or the unit came that way [ask C.P. --I ain,t smart enough to change it]

just pulled the sd card and theyare still there

Way points, tracks and trails are stored internally on the Humminbirds. You can export them to an SD card to store, edit and sort.

Mark if I get to make it over that way. You sure can get the on water demo.

Canepole I am with you. If I had to pay for all mine fishing, Guess I would be using a cane pole HEHE And fishing from the bank.
