Sounds like you need to adjust the setting on the power. Turn it up and it will lighten it up.

Shiloh, by power, do you mean sensitivity? I would love for it to work.

Yes the lower it is set the darker the shot. The higher the lighter it will get. Or I think I am right on that. But you will have to adjust the unit. Its not a set it and forget it unit.
Hit the menu button and go down to the sensitivity section. And adjust it to where it gives you the best shot. That is what I do. Different depth and stuff I have to change mine to fit what I am doing.
Also if yours is like my 987, on the 800 it can take a higher setting then on the lower one.

As for the object in the picture, It may be a broken tree, with the top still hanging on to the trunk and the branch tips resting on the bottom.

I own one. I will bash it till they fix the problems. Good nuff for you ain't goo nuff for me and apparently others who are not easily appeased. If I wanted to sell mine, it would already been sold. AND most of all, I am lookin out for YOU the public. I am darn well qualified to bash any electronics.

My take on this. No offense meant and none taken. Just my opinion.

none taken at all.. my point of view is if people are repeatedly uphappy with a companys product then why do they repeatedly buy from the same company and complain bout it.. just doesnt make lot of sence to me..and like i stated before i whole heartedly agree alot of people are relying way to much on electronics and forgetting the art of being able to find fish without using them.. there are days i dont turn my units on just to challenge myself and see if i can read the water and figure things out on my own... this helps cause i have seen people get to water there electronics fail so they leave the lake and lose a day of fishing.

and honestly canepole there isnt much you dont complain about so most of my message wasnt referring to you
