True. They are very low amperage, completely sealed and do not even get warm. The unplugging them goes back to the days when you were putting a hot bulb into colder water.

Here is a good place to get led stuff. You can get stuff here to build underwater led lights, etc.

I used these folks a lot in my other life...

I bought mine from AutoZone. I checked around and they have a 100,000 hour light that all the lights light up for turning, braking, etc. it's by Blazer International but they have changed name to Tiger Acc. I had mine for 3 years and one went out-one light at a time. I called the company and before I could send them mine they sent me another one and my friend at autozone traded out even though their warranty is only 90 days (Same model and everything, looked fine so we swapped and they kept the old light and the package to return to manf). It's a Red sealed trailer light with 12 LED's. There's a 6 function and 7 function model. I think they just come in sets now. With todays LED turn signal mirrors, these lights go well with those, can be seen from MILES away, reliable and the company backs them. Plus they just complete your package and looks good from the rear, all legal, can test from drivers seat as they put off so much light. The price is WAY HIGH as compared to the way we used to do it. But to know I got lights back there and not 1 bulb so hot as soon as I back down in the water they fog up and go BLINK. No thanks. Money well spent.

Here's a sample of what they look like. Buy them at Autozone and save the shipping. Cost is about the same as what you see on this website. Plus 90 day warranty thru AZ and Mauf to follow.

Got mine at Tractor Supply for around $50. It's worth every penny to not have to fool with stupid lights on a friggin cold morning when you want to go fishing!

If you hook these led lights up backwards, you will reverse bias your diodes. hehehe
