Thanks Cracker. I think this link to the AC converter is going to be what I need. I believe I can do everything else through the card unless I have missed something along the way.

I gave you guys a engineering recommendation. If you believe an ebay seller over me, then have at it. I saw no current specs on this unit. I doubt if it is fused and I know it is not current limited. From the looks of it, I doubt if it can handle much over a half amp continuous.
Joby from Huminbird recommended 2-3 amp supply. So do I (as I previously suggested). I doubt if that unit can handle the inrush current, but it is apparent no one here knows what I am referring to when I speak of this term. Ebay sure doesn't. These units aren't fused at 3 amps for luck.

    Your equipment. Have at it.

there are several people on the sideimage group using it. I have not seen a single complaint posted. I have used mine for an hour plus at a time. No problems. this is From a person at humminbird, the 997 wont draw 1 amp even with a transducer connected.
But its up to the person who owns the equipment! There are risks in every thing you do when working with electronics!
I dont make it and I dont sellem. But I do use it!

Tom If I get my parts together that chord wil work when I buy my 997 too, correct. I think I'm going to stay on the safe side and go with Tom' way. No disrespect to anyone else and I appreciate all the ideas. With all Tom's experience, I'd be a fool not to listen plus my pocket book and boat would be sad if something happened to my unit.

I HATE BEING IGNORANT ABOUT SOMETHING!

    Thanks guys,

    .

There is a difference between working and working properly.

Inrush current has nothing to do with steady state current.

I don't care what other people do with their stuff.

The only risks in electronics is lack of knowledge.
