Humminbird 797si GPS issue
Guys,
The gps options on my new 797 are no longer there. There isn't even an option for it after I mounted it this weekend. Also when I use side image or any other view and mark something, it doesn't!
Any ideas what might be the problem?

I don't have the 797 but I do have the 997 so there could be some difference so this may not be applicable. On the 997 I have five boxes on the right side the screen that I have to set what I want shown in each. I don't remember if you have to have the "Advanced" checked in the menu.

Check the connections between the head unit and GPS receiver. It sounds like the HU doesn't know the GPS is there.

I tried the restore defaults on the water this weekend, but that didn't seem to work. I guess I will have to try to reconnect all the connections and see if that works.

Put in simulator mode and see if gps appears. Just guessing, based on PamManVa input.

Go into your system status and GPS Diagnostic View to see check see if the GPS is hooked up and working.

We offer 2 diffrent versions. We have the 797 C2 SI COMBO that comes with a GPS antenna and we have a 797 C2 I COMBO. The 797 CS I COMBO has the gps antenna built into the unit. I noticed that you stated that you have a 797 C2 I COMBO. Go into your menu's and then go to the Views tab. Go down to the Accessory Test and change it to Visible. Then exit out and press the view button on the unit until you get to the System Status/Accessory Test. You will be able to tell on this page if the GPS is connected.

I don't know what version I have, however I do know that I have an external gps that worked the first couple of times out. For some reason it doesn't now!
I will run through the steps you mentioned Joby as soon as the weather clears and see if that helps.
Is this something that happens occasionally?
