Default Question for someone from Humminbird?

Is this true? that if the stock transducer won't read at High speeds that they have a "Y" cable now that can be used to add the XNT 9 20 transom mount transducer which is a new high speed dual beam, 20/60 degree, 200/83 kHz transducer. The transducer runs $56.99 from the factory and the cable is around $25 I believe. With the XNT 9 20 and the SI transducer connected to the "Y" cable there would be no need for a switch and the unit would display info from both transducers as if the signals had come from the stock transducer. For $82.00 this should fix the high-speed issue. Personally I think Humminbird should have just designed two separate transducers for this product and avoid the "If it doesn't work scenario" all together. I guess I could live with the additional $82.00

Also Planning on a new 700 or 900 unit for the front of the boat and will be getting the Interlink to link them together. Looking for color and one that can use the GPS of course.
Now can I use 2 GPS receivers with this? Or is it rated for only one Receiver?
Would be nice to have one in front and back to be able to hold over crappie beds better.
Or just mount the receiver up front ?

I'm interested to hear the official answer on that too Pete.

You know, something I was reading about the 1197 kind of led me
to believe that they are going to come set up like that to begin with.
But I'm reading between the lines maybe too much :D

    ShilohRed,

The transducer that comes standard in the box will do both ( Side Imaging & High Speed) The only thing is on a typical bass box you are running 70 mph and the transducer is large in which it has to be of side imaging, the transducer will act like a ski. We recommend that you install the side imaging transducer right under the jack plate so when you are running the side imaging transducer is out of the water and then epoxy a transducer in the hull for 2D high speed readings. Then the Y cable will attach the two transducers together and then connect to the unit. By doing this you do not have to have a switch to swicth back and forth. The Y cable does everything for you. Using the Y cable is easy press the view key from 2D to side imaging. Using the transducer switch you have to remember to switch from 2D to side imaging.

To answer your question you can use the transducer in the box for high speed reading and side imaging.

I would suggest the 787 C2 for the unit on the bow and a 997 on the console.

When using interlink you can use 2 gps receiver at a time. The unit will default to the interlink. You can go into the unit and tell it to use the external GPS receiver. You will have a Y cable that comes in the box that will allow this setup.

Thanks But I will not have a jack plate. Boat is a Lund 1825 Pro Guide Tiller.
But like the ideal of using the big transducer for SI and mount the other in the boat for Speed. That is what I was going to do anyway. But was thinking I was going to have to buy a switch also.
So it looks like I can just go with the Y cable and use both. Will the transducers made for Tin boats work with this setup? If not I guess i will have to mount the standard one out side.
On the Y cable where can I get it?

Thanks on the 787c2 for the front. but will have to use the 987c-SI for a while. New boat has taken up most of my $$ Looks like I may have to get a collection taken up on here. Or start selling toys to get the front unit.

Also top speed of my new boat will be max of 40 MPH and even on the old boat. The best high speed reading I could get out of it was 28 MPH.

    Thanks for the info.

Two transducers is the way I will have my 797 hooked up when I get it all together. I have installed the xnt-9-20, got the y cable, just received my unit yesterday. Right now we have 4 inches of snow and tomorrow highs in the low 30's I dont think I will get much done for a few days. The way I found out about using a second transducer was from the BBC Boards alot guys use this on their bass rigs I want to be able to read depth regardless how fast I am going.

    Default Two transducers?

Now here is a quick way for Humminbird to cover their butt and make money too.

Don't say anything about this 2 transducer arrangement in my manual.

Toggle switch , and now a Y cable. Hmmmm.
