The video output for the 1197 is for real. It does have video output. When purchasing the 1197 it does not come with this cable. It is a seprate accessory. The part number for it is VC 1. The retail price is $19.95.
Based on the picture displayed above it will be to the left of the metal connector and to the bottom.
The cable will have a connecto that plugsinto the unit and two phono connectors that will plug into a display.

I am assuming this is composite video out from the 1197 and I can connect any line in video recording device?

This will be a composite video. This should not be a problem, as long as you have a device that will record composite video.

Looks like I am gonna have to get one of these units to play with. I oughta get a free cable for guessing the answer. You folks at Humminbird get a lot of air time from me anyhow ( Pros and Cons).

The 997 does not have the video out capability only the 1197.
