    Default Ulterra vs Riptide Ulterra

    Hello Crappie folks,

I am in the process of buying a new trolling motor for use on my Pontoon and 16ft Lund. I intend to use a quick release bracket and move the trolling motor from boat to boat as needed. I mostly fish in Fresh water, but on occassion make a trip out to brackish and salt, thus I am considering the Riptide Ulterra. However, by going that route I miss out on the built in Sonar functions of the Fresh Water Ulterra.

I consider myself a multi species fisherman, with crappie being high on the list of preferred targets, so having sonar up front is important to me. My question is, how good is the 2d imaging on the Fresh Water Ulterras? What alternatives should I consider for my front electronics should I go with the Riptide model? What would be the best setup should I elect to go with the Salt Water Riptide Ulterra?

I'm considering things like Daducer Apparatus and the Cumberland Crappie 360 mount. Does anyone here have much experience with either one? Does the 360 unit also include 2d sonar?

My current electronics are a Helix 9 SI G1 and 1198 SI

    Thanks!

If you are going to use it in salt, I would but the riptide it sounds like you are going to use something other than the 2d sonar so I wouldn't worry about that, you will get better results with a different transducer anyway so get the tide
