    Default somebody boost my confidence

I had just about decided I might purchase a Garmin Striker 7sv. It just kind of doesn't sit well with me regarding the way Garmin is presenting its side imaging sonar units. Is it just me . Has anyone used a unit with clear view and the clear view transducers? Is it possible to have faith in what is being displayed? Has anyone got any comparision shots of the two transducers? Like alot of you who wonder"is my unit portraying actual real world down scan or is it Memorex" Why is the Gt transducers tilted? I would feel better about Garmin if they just came clean and layed all the cards on the table........Ricky, Have you any shots or comments.I always value your thoughts....Thanks to everyone for any comments.........crappie1133

Navionics won the 1st litigation against Garmin and their GT xducers with a dedicated DI piezo ...

Garmin tried to get around this litigation by "tilting" the DI piezo 16° in some xducers and called them ClearVu (it's still unclear which xducers) ...

Navico won the associated litigation of his change...and Garmin then removed the DI piezo and called this xducer "ClearVu" also ...

Garmin won the final litigation with the ITC ruling that Navico's DownScan patent was invalid from the start - saying Navico copied existing technology (HB's SI) and simply turned it downward ...

Any Garmin GT xducer (past and present) with DownVu does indeed have a dedicated DI piezo (altho it's unclear how to distinguish which GT have the "tilted" DI piezo) ...

Any Garmin unit with DownVu or ClearVu capability can utilize the GT xducers to get dedicated DI - regardless if that unit came with a GT xducer or a ClearVu xducer ...

    I don't have comparison images myself ...

Thanks Ricky , I can always get the true picture from your post. Basically what you are saying is the gt transducers with the Garmin striker 7sv should be o.k.. and should be for true down scan. Since I have mapping e/w gps on my other unit , this should work.....Thanks again for your help....crappie1133

It's important to check with the retailer before buying any Garmin unit to verify that specific unit is boxed with the GT xducer ...

Or buy a unit with no xducer and buy the GT xducer separate ...

Only the ClearVu xducers bundled with some Garmin unit do not have a dedicated DI piezo ...
