The maps that come with the unit aren't going to be very useful.....You could check into Navionics to see what the mapping looks like for the river you are interested in. You can look at their web app to see what the mapping would look like. https://webapp.navionics.com/#@6&key=s%7BimFrr_dP

There are several options for buying the Navionics chips .... do some research on that.

It is also possible Lakemaster has mapped the area you are interested in, but it's a little harder to tell what your are going to get. Lakemaster has more features for Humminbird if they have good mapping of the area you are interested in.
