Thread: minn kota problem

Need help on Ipilot t/m problem. Checking out boat, etc before fishing trip this AM, turned power on to t/m and it began to turn counterclockwise (to the left) without any use of the remote and would not stop until power cord was unplugged. I believe I have seen a discussion about this problem on the site before, does anyone remember the repair or is it a trip to an authorized service center. Thanks for any help or info.

plug it back in and see what happens

Check battery connections are not crossed. Sounds like reverse polarity. You don't leave it plugged in while charging do you?

Update on t/m problems, removed remote system and installed foot pad controls and unit works as it supposed to. reinstalled remote system and same problem, motor turns to left. Battery connections have not been changed and T/M is/was not plugged in while charging.

Check the battery or batteries, be sure they are good. Then check all wiring connections along the way. If all checks out and not under warranty remove the prop. There are two screws to housing that has armature remove them and be sure you have not gotten water in lower unit. Usually can buy a seal kit and solve this issue.

Basically there are several things that can cause this. The curly cord have a almost broken wire in it--iPilot head-- and sometimes the main board. Ive have all there over time. You say removed remote system, I'm not sure that that means unless you just plugged the foot pedal in. Must be a Terrova. As plugging a foot pedel in a V2 with iPilot does not work.

Sounds like a power drive v2. You can unplug I-pilot an plug in foot pedal. I had problem once when you push turn button an let go it would keep turning. Shut off power an turn back on an was ok.

I have never unplugged my I-Pilot. It shuts off when I stow it, so why disconnect? Been charging like this for 3 years with no problem. Did I miss something or did the older units not shut off when stowed?

X2! Mine has done the same thing the slow turn. Unplug then replug back to working!

This sounds like a connection problem with the remote. I had my remote around my neck and was having this problem. My remote had taken some abuse while netting fish and leaning over. I found the battery prongs inside remote were breaking contact. Simple adjustment. Also have saw where something would interfere with remote signal.
