Default HB Helix 5 to Ipilot

I want to put a HB Helix 2D/GPS on my deck and hook it to the US2 built in TD on my Ipilot. I currently have a HB385 hooked to it. My question is will the MK adaptor cable hook up to the Helix? When I looked at the list of compatabe units I saw everything but the Helix. Since HB has used the same style connector on about all their units, I felt it would, but I did not want to gt the Helix and find out it won't connect to my existing cable. It list earlier Matrix models but I don't see the current Helix 5.

Here is the chart from MK for the MKR-US2-8 adaptor.

Helix uses the same type 7 pin "house shaped" connector end as all the other core units ...so the adapter cable should work ...

    Default Something amiss

Well, it seems my Helix does not like the US2 transducer on the I-Pilot. The HB385 works fine with it, but when I hook the Helix I get a real washed out screen with a faded red color for the bottom and almost no images of items in the water table. I connected the transducer that came with the Helix and it worked fine with it. But I only bought it to get a bigger screen image on the front using the US2 setup. I have a Lowrance HDS 7 touchscreen for all but the TM readings.
The only options I see for selecting a transducer in the Helix menu is the frequency setting which is either 83, 200 or 83/200. Changing that does not make any difference on the screen image.

By the way, I posted this problem in another thread and someone noticed my voltage reading was low, so I ran new dedicated 16 gauge wire from the battery to eliminate this possibility.

Am I missing something or has this come up before?

It should work if the 385 is creating usable sonar screens ...the HELIX 5 Sonar GPS transmits the same 200kHz/83kHz that the 385 does ...

Try Restore Defaults ... If that doesn't work ... Call HB ... 1-800-633-1468

Johnson Outdoors owns HB and Minn Kota ... They may be able to help ...

I called HB first and they told me to do the restore default so I did but it did not help. When I plug in the TD that came with the Helix the display is fine. I am going to put the 385 back on to make sure it is still working properly. If it does work OK I am at a loss as to what the problem might be.
I have a HDS7 touch screen and I got the adapter cable for it also and it works fine. Just one of those elusive electronic gremlins on the loose. I spent 32 years with Ma Bell and the last 15 were in our data network division so I am familiar with phantom problems. Does not make it any easier to diagnose tho.

This one is eluding me also ...

Test the 385 again (like you mentioned) ...

Then with the HELIX reconnected ...:

Is the digital depth stable and seemingly accurate ... ??

this may be way off but just a thought... Did you use the new power supply wire that came with the helix? I think it has a built in filter...

Hey Rickie, tried something today that seemed to fix it. I will put it in the water Friday to see if it really did and will update here. You won't believe what I did to fix it. Dirt simple if it indeed works.
