Went today with my Elite 7 HDI. My unit seems to work for a time , then, quit.....I have NEVER gotten pictures like I have seen on this forum. Simulator looks great, not in real time. Lowrance sent me a new HDI transducer. I can't tell the difference.Sometimes the unit does not show anything, regardless of speed or settings. Tried different boat speeds today, same result. I spent to much money to have a unit that does not perform up to par. At this moment and according to my past experiences I would not buy DI again..... I can't see where it is beneficial. I would just as soon have 83/200 regular 2D. I know DI can be a big help after seeing other post on this forum. This unit is out of warranty, so if I sent it back and they offered and upgrade, I don't know what I would get. Maybe I would be better off with a x 510 c like I used to have. I am really disgusted and will not give any more big money and take a chance that that unit won't work . Anyone have any ideas that I haven't tried.....Thanks guys....crappie1133

Check your software version. Maybe download the latest version which I believe is 4.0

Thanks tyedog, The software version is 4.0. The unit acts like the DI quits working , cools down and goes back to working. For this reason I don't feel like it is the settings.Could be wrong, electronics cam act funny.....thanks....crappie1133Originally Posted by Tyedog

C1133 I had and Elite 7 and I was very pleased with the DI images. However they had a problem with the processor handling a Navionics chip. Every time I would try to zoom in or out the screen would go blank for as much as 2 minutes. Also happened if you were running on plane, when the cursor got to the edge of the display and tried to refresh you were flying blind for a minute or more.
The good news is the HDS 7 Touchscreen is a plug in swap for the 7 and they offered to upgrade me for around $200. I ended up with a $1200 unit for a little more than half the price and it is one fine unit, so you might see if they offer that. One warning though, I realized it has side scan also if I were to purchase an LSS2 transducer so the $200 turned into $400, but with the Elite 7 transducer it will give you DI and 2D just great and the touchscreen is so much easier to use.
Just as info here is a shot of a brush pile in DI and 2D on the Elite 7. As you can tell it is much easier to see the tree in the DI screen. So you should get shots like that on the 7.
