Is it close enough to be picking up just the tip of the skeg on the motor? Take clamp loose and move it around a little and see if it changes.

I moved a basic FF from back of boat to front, mounting transducer on trolling motor. There is a solid band that appears at 2 feet and stays there regardless. Does anyone know what might cause this? It appears both on the water and in the garage.
I've tried reseting to factory defaults, no difference.
I don't think it's trolling motor interference because it happens even if trolling motor is unplugged.
Any ideas?

Do you have a keel offset?
I appreciate all the responses. After trying a different transducer, looking at all the settings, I've come to accept this is the nature of the unit. It works fine on the water marking stuff great 5 fow plus. While googling trying to figure out the issue I noticed alot of units in photos and youtube show a similar line. So I guess that's just how it is and isn't really a problem to worry about.
NO, it should not !! And I'd be talking to Lowrance about it. I could not, in all good conscience, accept a phantom image as being "just how it is". It's got to be a hardware or software glitch, and Lowrance should make it right ... even if it means replacing the unit with a new one.
I'd contact "Jason Gilstrap LOWRANCE" by PM and see if he can help resolve the problem.

You said you moved it from the back to the front. Did you have the line there before you moved it?
If you didn't , then I would say you are picking something up from the bottom of your boat. Could be the Skeg. I'm not sure. I however agree with others when I say that I would not accept that as the norm. If you have enough cable, I'd say disconnect it from the TM and drop it in a little deeper and see what you get, if it goes away, you know it is picking up something from the boat, if it doesn't, you know it is the device. Wouldn't hurt to try it.
I have OCD "Obsessive Crappie Disorder"
I have it attached to the trolling motor. I did detach it from the trolling motor in the garage and it didn't change anything. The unit is old and out of warranty, I wouldn't expect Lowrance to bend over backwards. As long as it can mark stuff accurately at 5ft plus I'm happy with it.
Was just wondering if there was simple fix I didn't know about...
I am like Pappy, I would PM Jason and get his email, send him your picture. I am leaning towards a setting that is off for some reason. But Jason would be more than glad to help you.
