Default Help me figure this out

OK bear with me…hope I can explain what I want to do so you understand me.

I want to replace my 788CI HD DI up front with a 999ci HD SI.
A lot of the lakes I fish have hp restrictions on them, so I’m using my trolling motor to get around. I want to add side imaging/down imaging up front. Have an 898c SI at the console for the non hp restricted lakes.

    So my questions are …..
    1. Do any of you run a side imaging transducer off the trolling motor?
    Pros and cons?
    2. Can I use the existing 898 transducer on the back of the boat for side imaging on the 999 unit? Looks like they use the same transducers. Think I’d have to install a US3 switch allowing me to switch between the 898 and the 999 units?
    3. But then what do I do for down imaging/depth up front? If I use the standard 999 transducer on the trolling motor for just depth/down imaging what would I need to switch from the back transducer to the trolling motor transducer, another switch the TS3 or is there a coax splitter that will do all of this?
Hope this makes sense …and there is an easy solution

I am going to take a shot and if I'm wrong I'm sure someone correct me. Put the 999 on console and use existing transducer. The 999 comes with the compact transducer if I'm not mistaken. Put that on troller and move 898 to front of boat and use that. You would have 2d, down and side up front. Don't see any reason for switch. Biggest draw back to side on troller is for good pics you have to hold troller pretty steady or your readings get kind of grainy and not to clear. Fish with a friend who has 998 on troller and it works pretty good. I usually run the troller when I fish with him and run finder. DI and 2d are both good.

798 on trolling motor works great, a little distortion when turning but not enough to worry about

You can simply mount the 999 HDSI xducer to the TM ...and then connect the 999 (bow unit) to the 898 (console unit) with the Ethernet cable and see all sonar channels from either xducer... on either unit...by selecting the source in the Network settings...

You will also need the AS EC QDE Ethernet adapter cable for the 999...(and the Ethernet cable long enough to reach between the 2 units)...

(1 correction posted above...the 999ci HD SI Combo comes stock with the same XHS 9 HDSI 180 T that the 898 has always used)..

(the 899ci HD SI comes with the compact SI xducer but that's not part of the equation in this query)...

There are also options for using the XNT 9 DI T (from the existing 788ci HD DI currently on your TM)...connected to the 999ci HD SI unit...

This can be setup "in conjunction with the 999 HDSI xducer" ....or "in place of the 999 HDSI xducer"...
