Will a HDS8 series 2 or Touch work with my LSS1 and Transducers?

No, it's built in. Lowrance recommends an adapter cable for the LSS-1 transducer to the touch units. The images I've seen with it connected directly to the unit are as good as the ones using the adapter cable. IIRC the cable is about $80.
