    Default Talons and battery life

Took my boat out today for the first time with my talons on it and they performed well. On the way back to the ramp my battery died. I have never had issues with battery life before today. Just wondering if anyone else has had the same issue.

It might help to explain this a little more. How is your boat set up? Outboard? Trolling motor? Which battery died? I'm assuming trolling motor battery since the outboard battery has nothing to do with it's running once started.

I have a Lowe ST175 with a Mercury 60 HP OB. I have two batteries on the boat, the trolling motor Minn Kota Terrova has one of these all to itself. My dad and I were fishing a downed tree and had the talons deployed for around 3 hours and right before dark we headed back to the ramp. On our way back to the ramp running the OB I started getting a ear piercing alarm from the boat and noticed my gauges were not functioning properly. I tried trim up and down a little but every time I accelerated the alarm would sound again. I decided to stop the boat and shut the motor off and let it sit for a minute and upon trying to restart learned the battery was drained and this could have been the reason for the alarm. I have also added a Humminbird 1199 that we used for a little while but not enough to think it would have made a difference. Its just my first time out with the talons and wasn't sure if by having them deployed for that long of a period if they were constantly pulling on the battery.

The Talons don't draw power except when moving.

For a problem to happen while the outboard was running, you most likely had a cable loose or a battery failure. A loose cable could have caused charging system damage.

    +1

Talon's remote-control receiver will be drawing minimum battery power. I use a Perky switch to on/off some boat accessories(Talons, etc).
My motor-to-battery and on-board charger cables do not run thru the Perky.
