HDS 7 Gen2 Question

I got this unit new about a month ago or less. I have used it only twice and tomorrow will be the third time. My question is that when I cut it on it flashes(white) like a camera, then a few lines flash across( or some other strange image) before it shows HDS in big letters. Once the HDS comes up it still takes about 30 to 40 sec to power up the screen. Is this normal for this unit or should I get it replaced? Thanks

Don't notice those things happening on my Gen 2, 9 Touch. I would call customer support. That way maybe you can get an incident report number or something similar. good luck.

My hds8 takes quite awhile to power up, haven't noticed the lines.

i have 2 hds 7 gen2 and they do the same thing

If you have a lot of info in an SD card or another mapping card, it might be loading all the info into the system. This could explain a delay while booting.

my gen 1 hds 7`s i had didnt do it,think its a gen 2 thing

Yeah they take a few to boot up, drop the boat in and turn them on, go park the truck.

I turn mine on at the launch before I put the boat in. Gives it time to find the GPS satellites.

You may want to upgrade the firmware on your unit. My HDS 7 gen 2 used to do the same thing when I bought it two years ago. There have since been three updates online for this unit. Read my thread about lowrance updates before downloading the latest version though.
