Default Looking at getting new Humminbird

I'm looking to replace my old 565 up front, and there just aren't a whole lot of models left that are exclusively 2D sonar most of the more advanced models include DI which isn't compatible with the US2 on my powerdrive V2.

Now, will a DI unit hook up with the US2? I just won't have the DI feature. The next unit I get is gonna have the GPS also, so I'll do what I have to do either way

I have a limited budget also, I saw a little 398ci w/side imaging on Amazon for less that $500. Yay or nay? I imagine the screen's fairly small. Any other SI unit is out of my price range. Some good HD DI units with GPS are in my budget.

    Thanks for input!

I would look at the 597. It's less than 500 dollars. Check this link http://http://www.bbgmarine.com/FISH...duct_info.html

If you are considering SI, Gander had the 798s for $649. That's a great deal.

Check out the 2D 859 for $599. Actually $579 from Cabelas.

    Gander has the 798ci w/SI for $699, and a 598ci w/SI for $579. It's a toss up between the two.

A HB DI unit will not work with the US2...the piezo element is different...

    Thanks Rickie!
At least one guy is reading the questions.... A buddy of mine just bought BPS special buy - 597 ci DI @$379 figuring he could use the US/2 and once I told him the US/2 is 200/83 KHz and his 597ciDI was 200/455 (2D) and 455/800 KHz DI - his reply was: CRAP!
He'll be calling HB C/S for a TM mount XDCR this week I bet!

This is a great unit! Is the rebate gone for the 798?

No, it was still going on, until April 2nd I think. Comparing the two, the 598 will work well for me. Plus I want to add a map card. Lakemaster or Navionics?
