Update. The Humminbird guys have been on top of the problems I have encountered and have been able to help immensely. Richard contacted me and supplied me with a beta test version of the update that was just released Monday. With that version (1.141) the SI graying out problem was resolved, the 2D interference lines (interlacing) was also taken care of. I was having problems with the swipes and with overall touch acknowledgement, all taken care of. The chart would sometimes not load completely, leaving a blue border around the map, gone too!!
I had problems with the I pilot Link and 360 and Richard sent me a 5PXG switch that, along with the new updates to the 360 and Link, made everything work the way it was supposed to. Follow the contour works perfectly, so does waypoint navigation, etc.
So I reported all this back to Richard and I thought that would be the end of it. He contacted me and said Justin Freeman (his right hand man) and Bill Carson would like to come down and take a ride on my boat and see how everything was working. They wanted to make sure everything was to my liking. So they just left after being with me on the water all morning. 30mph winds today but we were able to find a couple of coves to hide in.
Justin updated my unit from 1.141 to 1.150 (which is available on the website now). Big differences between the two, .150 is even faster with the screen changes and touch interface. One thing they added that I can see me using a lot is the manual is now embedded in the head unit. So if you have any questions or don't remember something, you can pull up the manual on the screen and get your answer. Great idea. The 360 was also updated, and the pictures looked much better to me also. Bill took some screenshots, I need to ask him to send me some of them or post them directly on this thread.
In the next couple of days I will try to make a video showing the improvements so we can compare before/after.
Was great to meet Bill Carson and Justin Freeman, both guys are very proud of their work and it shows. We talked about everything related to striper and hybrid striper fishing, was a great time. Humminbird is working on all kinds of new applications and products for the Onix/Ion line, can't wait to see what else we can add to the boat.
I am very happy with the Onix now, to the point that I will add a second one to use on the bow. The features and support from Humminbird are excellent. So thanks to everyone that helped me out, Deborah Benson, Richard Kaiser, Justin Freemand and Bill Carson. Really appreciate it.
