I always run my power source wire straight to the power wire on the unit, I have always had trouble if I jumped it off of something other like a light switch or some other in line wire........ good luck..........

This topic's probably been touched on 14,000 times so let me say i'm sorry right up front. I just bought and installed a humminbird 678c on thw bow of my boat and I've got a powerdrive with us2. I carried it out wednesday and my depth stayed at 6 feet all day. Also, my graph just shows a yellow screen and never shows any change of bottom contour or structure. The water temp seems to be the only thing working. I wired the power through the trim switch on on the front of my boat so i know it's running off a 12v source. Does this sound like an interference issue? Could the transducer in my trolling motor be shot? If anyone has any advice please chime in. Also, if anyone has a pic of what interference looks like maybe you could post them or direct me to somewhere that i can find them. Im pretty much electronically illiterate so if you do respond to this im sure i'll have more questions. Thanks in advance for y'alls help

A FISH IN THE PAN IS WORTH TWO IN THE LAKE
Go into the Sonar tab in the main menu...
Look for a menu "Transducer Select" or something similar...
Open that menu and see if there is a choice for US2 or something to tell the unit too get it's sonar from the US2 ...
If you don't see anything like this ... Post the listings in that menu here so I can see them...

Rickie, i tried that the other day and the only options were "on" and "off". "on" gives me the yellow screen and "off" just goes gray. The lady i spoke with at humminbird said the unit should automatically detect the us2. I'm working til tuesday, but i'll look again when i'm off.
Carl, did you try the regular transducer?

Cray, i haven't had the chance. I'm working nights right now, but the plan is to try that tomorrow before i go in. I also want to put my depthfinder on another boat thats got a humminbird hooked up and see if the problem follows the unit.
Carl here is something you can try at home. Hook transducer to unit and tie it off to something. Give your self a couple of feet. Turn unit on then put a tin can under the ducer about a foot. It should give you a mark relatively close to the distance. That will tell you that ducer is reading. Mounting it to another one really is best if you find one close to try it on. Good luck.

Master cray knows how o trouble shoot
Carl,
Make sure that you have the Minn Kota US2 adapter cable connected well. If that screw on adapter cable is not screwed on tight it can cause problems.
FYI: I don’t think that the 678c has the Transducer Select menu. It’s a straight 200/83kHz DualBeam sonar only model.
I appreciate y'all chiming in. I'll have time to tinker with it tomorrow. I'm gonna try all the suggestions and let y'all know how it comes out. Any other suggestions just lob out there and i'll give them a whirl too.
