I have a HB 788 DI that I bought last spring. It will not read speed below one and a half mph. I have talked to the factory several times since I bought it and they said they could not recalibrate it and there was no software that I could buy to fix the problem. I need it to read four tenths mph, give or take. Anyone have any suggestions other than buying a 998 or 999. I already know the 788 has been discontinued. I have an older 788 that reads fine.

I just called customer service again and they told me there was nothing wrong with the unit. That I would have to be going at least 2 mph for the gps to function properly. I know that's not right because I have a unit that reads right. I asked about going to a 998 or a 999 and they told me that they were the same.
Have you tried connecting the GPS Receiver from the older 788 unit to it to see if it still does the same thing or not?
I bought a 788 HD DI and had ALL KINDA TROUBLE with the GPS right outta the box. Sent it back to'um and they couldn't figure it out. They sent me another unit and I wasn't pleased with it either. I finally put an external HS antenna on it and it helped.
Your unit should read/show something plum down to 0.0 mph. If it don't, me and somebody'd be get'n sideways over it! You pay that kinda money for something it should WORK!

The GPS doesn't have anything to do with the transducer. It's located in the head, unless the 788 has external receiver?
