Thread: Bow Mount 360

Bear in mind this is a work in progress and not finalized. But all I did was get Scott of HiTek to weld a 1 1/4" OD aluminum tube to one of his bases. Then just made a Short U-shaped mount out of 1 1/4" PVC. I had to wrap the PVC once with rubber to get a snug fit with the clamp of the 360. So simple, even an electrical-type could do it.

I have a longer piece that allows it to sit in front of the trolling motor. It works well at trolling speeds but wobbles a bit when I'm going 3-5 mph.

Both the longer tube and the shorter tube can be attached without lifting the trolling motor.

I think part of the idea of putting it on the trolling motor like they do is to protect it from hitting something. Yours looks pretty vulnerable to stumps rocks anything under the water that can grab it and rip it off the boat or bust.. just my 2 cents

That is one heck of an idea if its what I think it is.

What makes it better in front of the trolling motor for me, is that it is directly in front of my graph. When I see something right in front of me on the graph, it is truly right directly in front of me. Off to side, what appears to be in front of me is in fact to the side a couple of feet.
But like I said, I get more stable images going 3 - 5 mph with the shorter mount. So the short mount works best when I'm at the console with the big motor and the long mount works best when I'm working the trolling motor. I'm too lazy to switch these out when fishing and will come up with one solution. Shooting for a stable mount in front of the trolling motor.

As far as hitting things, I did chose schedule 40 pvc because i felt it would give before any damage to the pod. But I have to ask. If you mounted this to your cable steer trolling motor, what makes you think it wouldn't hit anything mounted that way? How is the trolling motor protecting it?

from the pictures it is mounted above the motor itself so the motor in most cases should hit the object first taking the impact. but I hope yours works great for you. now back to my other question, what is that mounted to your trailer that goes up to the bottom of your boat

This is the longer piece. Like I said before, it works well when using the trolling motor but wobbles a bit when using the big motor due to the flex of the pvc.

Besides the wobble, if you have the trolling motor deployed and below the pod, you will get a noticeable shadow from the trolling motor.

That is a flag that pops up when boat is unloaded so you kinda get a feel of which way the trailer is turning when backing... since he does not seem to want to let go of that information. LOL!!!!!

I told him in a PM. I didn't want to get off topic!! Since I'm investing in PVC now, I wished I'd just cut a couple and attached to my trailer at the back.
