On the water report...........Unit screen was good. Depth seemed to be reading with other units. GPS speed all over the place. Unit seemed to be ticking at times like an old transducer will do. Going to have a talk with HB next week. Thanks again for the help folks.

So the 958 worked at the 998's station but the 958 will not work at its own station...??

    Help me understand your setup...

UPDATE......Sent unit in. Cost me 40 bucks for shipping and insurance. Factory told me they could not find a problem. Sent it back. Worked for a few days on the carport. Going fishing tomorrow and checked it one last time this evening. Back to the same old problem. I know its not my hookup because I swapped them just a few minutes ago and my 998 will work at both stations and the 958 is the same at both stations. I also talked to a factory rep about the poor gps porformace at slow speed and they are aware of the problem. Of course that doesn't stop them from selling them knowing they have a problem. Told me I could take a chance on a more exspensive puck and it may or may not fix the gps problem. Wow, thanks for that Humminbird. So I guess I have a 1000.00 dollar boat anchor. Stay away from this junk guys. They know its broke and they can't fix it. Back to a 150.00 dollar Garmin for me.

Not good at this stuff but think I would lay both units on the dining room table, get a good light and check each one of the connection pins where your harnesses hook in. Compare the 2. If it work on the 998 station once then on it's own station except for your GPS sounds like a connection/low voltage/low amperage problem to me.

    x2!

I can also add that I have the 958 with HS puck and never have any problems with the slow speed performance! So the puck with the heading sensor really works at low speeds.

Ground issue. Do you have a toggle switch in the line anywhere?

Try turning the sonar off to reduce amp draw and see if it still does it.
