I've updated with my settings on the same card with no issues. Why not create a waypoint folder on your desktop and save them there until you're finished updating? It's a good idea to back them up on a computer or a spare memory card anyway.

OK I learned the hard way. I now know that you need to save your waypoints to an SD chip before you download a new update to your DF.( Ihave an Elite 7 HDI). Yes I lost all my waypoints.
My question is...When I save the WPs to an SD chip, can I use the same chip to download the Lowrance update and then put the chip in the DF and do the update and then save my WPs or do I have to use 2 separate "clean" SD chips??

Thanks. On my HB before I got the Elite7, I had a map from Navionics on my PC that had all my waypoints on it and I could manage them on the PC and then update the HB. Also I could download any info from the DF on a chip then update the map on my PC.
Either Navionics has changed the software for their on line mapping or Lowrance is not done the same way because I've yet to find a way to creat and save a map on my PC that I can update and download to the Elite 7.
