Default People often ask me what is the "1 best tip" I can give HB users...

Turn off all of those dang views you would never use...!!!

There are 20-25 different view combinations in the HB view "carousel"...(depending on what accessories are attached)...

You probably only use 5-7 of those views...

Turn the rest of them off to lessen the amount of button pushes needed to get to the view you need...

Why use the carousel? Hit that top button ( View?) and hold it for a second or two.

The "2nd best tip" I can give HB users is....

If your unit has preset keys...set 1 preset key to full screen Chart....

1 preset press to "full screen Chart"...and then you have instant access to all functions of the chart...including zoom, waypoint management, etc...

If you are watching "split screen" Chart/whatever....then to even get to the Chart's "Zoom" function you have to....notice which way the "green arrow" is pointed...then open the Xpress menu to change the "green arrow"....then select the Chart side as the "active" side...then Exit out of the Xpress menu...then press the "Zoom" keys...

Too many button presses just to "Zoom" the Chart in a "split screen"...!!

Set 1 of the preset keys to "Full Screen Chart"...

The "View" and "Exit" buttons are the carousel ...

Make "Hidden" all the views you do not use ...which makes the carousel smaller ...so it takes fewer "View" button presses to get to the view you want to see...

You know if you press "view" and hold for a second, that you will get a pop up menu, right?

I get no popup menu on my 1197 by holding the "view" button for a second...(nor the "Exit" button)..(neither in Simulator nor Normal mode)...

    Dang, sorry they shorted you.

On my 898, you get a pop up with all the views categorized, DI, SI and a bunch of others. So you hold View for a second or two, get the pop up and with two or three arrow clicks, you are on the screen of choice. No need to ride the carousel.

I think that this was only added to the current line of 800/900 and 1100 series units, not the older 1197 units.
