    I'm surprised too Mike...

I bet this one has been very difficult to track down because of some good reports of actual better operation with the new versions...

I'd say it's paramount that the next update is not problematic.

I know this doesn't pertain to the updates for the SI units, but I have been waiting forever for them to release version 6.300 for my 728 so I can use my AS GRP puck that I bought a while back. It's been on 6.250 since March 2012 I believe. They stopped selling the ASGR50 so you were forced to purchase the ASGRP but then they don't release the needed required software so that it is actually useable. I've been asking about when this update is supposed to be released for the past 6 months and it's always 4-6 weeks. Well guess what, it still ain't out and I am sure if I called again I would get the 4-6 weeks answer again.

They must be too busy to trying to patch their crummy software updates for the guys with the high dollar units to worry about supporting the low end units even though they say on their site they are supported. All I want is to be able to mark a stinking way point and not have to go drop a bunch of money on a different unit just to be able to do so when what I have is "supposed" to work according to them.

I could do that but then I would be stuck with my new ASGRP that I would have to sell to recoup some cost. I'd be lucky to sell it for what that used ASGR50 is going for. Hopefully they get the update I need released soon like they have been saying. It seems silly they release new udpates for the SI units every few weeks but can't release an update that makes my unit work with the newest gps puck which they list as compatible. It's false advertising and it's been that way for a long time! It has been over a year since the last software update for my unit and they stopped selling the ASGR50 puck a while back.

Are one of these GPS pucks better than another or are they just better for a particular FF? After reading these posts I had to go look as to which I had. The 998SI in front has a AS GR50 while the 858 HD DI has one that only rprecisionescion gps module" on the top.

The ASGRP replaced the ASGR50. As long as you have a graph that has software version 6.300 or newer, you can use either one. I don't think there is any performance difference between them. For some reason they changed some circuitry in the 50 channel puck and changed the model and it also requires a 6.300+ software to be recognized.
