Default Any Consensus on HB Updates?

There has been a lot of discussion lately on HB updates. What is the feeling regarding them? Is there one version that seems to be the best? I'm getting a used 798 ci SI unit, and I think it has 5.84 (?) on it. Is that version good enough, or should I try for a higher version? From what I've read, no one seems to like the latest version and even back a few versions from there.

    thanks

I have the 798 si with the latest update (don't know the number). I think the problems are with the updates on the larger units.

I guess when I read those posts, I didn't make the connection that they were all for the bigger units

    Hey Vic...

We are working on a bad pixelation issue in this guy's 798...running 6.610..

    Bad unit or bad settings?

I have tried 6.25 6.60 6.61 6.64 on a 798HD. So far 6.25 has produced better 2D images. I played with 6.64 all day Sunday, using 2D with only 200khz wasn't to bad but when I switched to 200/83 it became very pixelated. Also had a couple glitches where the unit would change views for no reason, and at one time I lost all DI/SI views all together. One good thing about the updates they are easy to go back and forth I see no reason not to try them.

When I go to hb.com my latest update (798si) is 6.35. I just assumed that these highest numbers were for the larger units with 800 mh. Much of this is too deep for me.

Vic...if you're not going to be getting 360, AS GPS HS, or iLink...I really don't think any of the newer versions would be worth trying...

I would test the used unit as is ...and if there's no anomalies in the operation...just wait until HB gets these updates sorted out...

This has been going on for an awful long time. I'm surprised they haven't resolved this issue yet. Stuff happens though.
