    Default 998 connection issue

about 1/3 of the time when i turn on my 998 it'll say "transducer not connected". i'll push the connections together and eventually it will function normally. does anyone else have this problem? any suggestions to avoid this issue? thanks.

The cable connectors on the HB are known to have connection issues...

Try bending the pins in the cable end connector "slightly"...

Make sure that the cable connectors are seated correctly in the connector collector and that the connector collector is screwed into the back of the unit.

the connectors have never been disconnected; so it seems to me that they/it simply gets loose or separated somewhat. this only happens during start up and again not every time, but enough to be a nuisance.

I have the same reoccurring issue with the GPS cable....

Bending the pins "slightly" helps...but it still does it occassionally ...

Bad contacts, well I am not surprised. I read an article some time back in Engineering Times (or PE magazine) about gold flash pins. Price of gold has forced the pin manufacturers to use less flash thickness. Connectivity (bonding) is affected by many things other than insertion and removal.

Don't lay the blame all on HB.
