I had that problem on a bathroom remodel. You're right. Huge pain to clean off and reapply a new tube.

I just completed another V2 foot control box, but....
The GE silicone (squeeze tube from wal mart) would not cure. There is supposed to be a "use by" date on this stuff (so I was told). The tube I purchased the other day at wal mat had no such date. What a mess trying to clean it up. I picked up a new tube of Locktite silicone at Lowes to finish my box. There is no "use by" date on it either. At least it cured out. This cost me 3 days on a one day job.
The box is not as purdy as it was before the screw up, but it is workable. Last box I had too.![]()

I useta use electrical potting compound on the electronic projects. But, the EPA placed the electrical potting on the HAZMAT list. Now, potting cost more to ship than to buy. 2oz of potting cost about 20 bucks shipped. 2oz silicone, about 3 bucks. Crazy government.

I used a product called CRC Silicone Multi-Purpose Lubricant. It comes in a spray can and it worked for me (knock on wood). My foot control was sticking on the left side.
quick question for ya cane pole since I have been thinking about the box also for my powerdrive V2. I know I will need the round 7 pin connectors that you talked about in another post, does that still hold true?
another question? what about a can of the electrical tape liquid? since I am not sure about the application totally wondered if that stuff would work for the application in the box. Curing time, waterproof, durable etc?
Never used any of the other stuff mentioned just wondered as I read the post
oh, what is this now I am being qualified? guppy? what the ...well I guess that means you have to go through the paces? ok guppy it is and then what goldfish or does the pecking order go the other direction? LOL
The MK connectors are specifically made for MK. There exists no matching connector on the market. That is why I ask folks to send me the mating MK connectors. However, I can change out all connectors and make everything work. The waterproof connectors are very expensive.
You could use the electrical tape, but it would probably take 6 months to cure. I now use an epoxy compound (like the black stuff you see on the circuit board in the MK V2). I use silicone to seal the cable exits. I tried cable glands, but eventually they will loosen and leak. Besides, the are plastic and if someone over tightens the gland, it breaks.
I am not in business to make money. I did this as a project to raise money for the Wounded Warrior project. The only charge I ask is the cost of parts. My labor and time is free. Of course some have taken advantage of this, but it doesn't really bother me. This just tells me who not to "fish" with.
I do not fool with people with "0" posts here who just want a box made. If they can't be an active here, I ain't gonna fool with them. Period.
