    Default Broken Tranducer Cable Fix

I have a HB 728 and I have broken a conductor. It is the 2nd time Ive replaced because it is on the bow on the troll motor and is very prone to kink. I found the break and cut the cable and found a red, a black and a bare probably 24AWG. I stripped back and reconected by twisting the wires back together and then wraped individual connections and then the whole thing with tape.

I think the cable has a foil shield. I was unable to connect the shield, so being 12vDC, how inportant is that and did I fix anything? The screen dosen't flash around crazy numbers like it did. I haven't put it in water yet.

    Any thoughts would be apreciated.

    Moma tried real hard.

Shield (tinfoil or aluminum foil as some call it) is for noise. You might get lucky. Not too long ago, the foil didn't exist and things still worked.

    Forgot to mention:

The inside of the foil is conductive. The bare wire will contact the tinfoil most of the lenth of the wire except where it is broken. If you made good splices, you should be fine.

If the splice is going to be under water, I would paint it with some form of rubber coating like Scotchkote.
