They work just fine, but if there is a lot of trash in the water your view won't be as clear. Here is a shot taken showing suspended debris.

Wondering how these units work in dirty or stained water. Not much clear water where I fish, would like to know before I buy one. Thanks for your help.

I could be wrong ,but that debris looks like fish to me. I sure would fish it.

Depth is a bigger issue than stained water, at least that is what I have noticed.

I fish stained or dirty water all the time on my home lake, won't be an issue.
GO BIG ORANGE !
I meant to behave, but there were just way too many other options available at the time.
Yes, that's how my hds7 looks or sometimes worse in my dirty lakes. I find that as I movearound I am always adjusringthe sesitivity or contrasr sometimes colorline. Never ending plaything lol

Most people I have shown these shots to think the same thing, but it's not crappie it was suspended leaves and junk. We had a big rain with a lot of run-off and that creek was loaded with debris. I extended my Ego Reach dip net and stuck it down about 5' and when I pulled it back up there was crap all over in it. There was so much stuff suspended that the outboard prop would bring it to the top. Never caught a fish in that crap, never even got a thump, didn't stay in the area very long either.
