If you have a double hull it will not work. I don't buy completely about "no loss shooting thru an aluminum hull" or any hull as far as that goes. They way they rate the power of transducers is mathematical voodoo anyhow. Another thing to consider at high speeds is rivets. They are guaranteed to create air bubbles at high speeds. Also, if you have chines on the bottom of your boat, you could have trouble. It is not 100% guaranteed.
I am by no means trying to discourage you from buying one. YOU DON'T KNOW TIL YOU TRY.
I am familiar with the Airmar P79. It is not worth a crap in metal boats. I only know the alumaducer by name and I know Velixar makes good flashers. I have an in dash Velixar flasher.

I had one on my old aluminum boat and the unit did not work at speeds greater 6 mph and only slow speeds. I would not get another one. Thought it was the cure all for not having to drill holes in back of my boat.
