Looking to up grade my troller and was wondering which one to look at. Brand isn't important, but looking at 24 volt variable speed cable foot control about 70lbs thrust. Anyone with something like that, would like to know how you like it and what kind it is.![]()

How are you planning on fishing? For 80% of crappie fishing techniques, Minnkota I-pilot or at least an Autopilot is the only way to go. Otherwise a Fortex or Maxxum is good for shooting docks or bass fishing. I do not reccomend a Motorguide, they just don't seem to care about creating a better product and are way behind Minnkota.
Thanks, Wannabe. It was nice to meet you.

I would go with the best Minkota variable speed you can afford. Have heard they were replacing one of there cable models. Might check Cabelas and a few other places looking for close outs, yearend sales. Especially if your not in a hurry. Have had a couple motor guide motors and really don't like them. I use a Terrova 55/12 with Ipilot and love it.

New Ipilot is much faster and has the anchor feature which is good for fishing over brush. It us GPS not the old compass can also set your speed with cruise control.. I reccomend getting a 24volt as it is able to get more power and run cooler. I would sit in the boat with someone and try whatever you decide on before buying. A trolling motor is a large and very important investment.
Thanks Guys I just got what I've been looking for from Justinp. Minn Kota Maxxum Pro 80 lb thrust variable speed and US2 for a great price. Now if the weather will cooperate I'll get on it and get it changed over.
