(Just for clarification... "Combo" in a HB model name means a unit with GPS chartplotting...)

I'm not sure if that is the same thought you mean of your questions about a combo unit...??

By shallow, in the drought we're experiencing, I saw 9' at the deepest part of the channel in the river up to inches along the shore.

My naivety on the term Combo. I thought they were ones that had different sonar ability. Down, side, um all the other ones. Lol

I haven't bought any yet. I'm waiting on the iLink Minn Kota troller and will be trying to pick the best, for me, fish finder. I will probably fish the river I live by the majority, the Kankakee. But there are many lakes close by also.

    Thanks for both your responses.

    tsaints1115,
Humminbird DI units have what you would call “combo” sonar in that they have both the DI (Down Imaging) and standard 2D or conventional sonar (see image below of DI unit sonar beams).

Our Si units will have a combination of Si, Di and 2D sonar.

    Thank You

Sounds like Si may be the best when time comes. The motto I've seen is "The biggest screen you can afford"?
