The new remote is great. It's a lot bigger than the copilot remote because it has so many functions, but it feels better and the new buttons are a big improvement.

Does anyone have any experience with the new I-pilot?
More precisely the remote.
I have owned both, a copilot and a I pilot . I enjoy the features of the I pilot but can't stand it's remote.
The buttons are so hard to press. The copilot remote was so much easier. Hope that the new I-pilot remote is better.

the new IP remote was re-designed for 2012, and the comments have been positive from my readings. check out the IP thread in the electronics forum. think there is a picture of the new one.
GO BIG ORANGE !
I meant to behave, but there were just way too many other options available at the time.
New remote is alot better than old one. Had alot of trouble with old one and my local Minnkota repairman gave me a new remote and has worked great ever since.
I tried one today for the first time and man was it nice. I'm 39 years old and almost ashamed to say that by the end of a long windy day pushing those buttons on my old remote my thumb is almost numb.
Does anyone know who has the best price on the new remotes? I found them at one place on line for around $160.00

I've been running the updated i-Pilot since late October. The updates to the remote are really terrific. Not only are the ergonomics better, but the battery access is also improved, and the new remotes now include a remote lock feature that prevents the user from accidentally activating, or deactivating, one of the i-Pilot functions.
You can see the updated i-Pilot in action in the videos found at the links below. A couple of these are built around a really nice fall crappie bite on the upper Mississippi River:

This will take some getting-used-to, but could be a helpful feature. I use the neck strap and always wear my remote, so I rarely disengage a function accidentally on the old remote.
A more useful function would have been a way to lock OUT a function--especially the bunny button. Hitting this panic button accidentally is always bad news. Wrapping lines in the prop and breaking rods can be expected, but my hairiest accidental engagement came while fishing under a narrow bridge. It was all I could do to keep from crashing my boat into the bridge structure when I suddenly went from barely moving to a full 80 lbs of power.
