But some internal antenna units allow the use of an external antenna too. They have an extra plug for it. If your 339 has the plug receptacle, you may be able to use the front antenna to see if it is the windshield causing the problem.
Ron, I pulled up the manual from Lowrance and could not find where Gene's unit will accept an ext antenna..I might have overlook it though..
