    Default A gps question

I have a LMS 339 DF with gps , I remoldel my bass tracker and put a full windsheild on it. The gps never gave me any problem ,now with that windsheild I sometimes lose signal when going to waypoints especially moving north. It has built in antena, hate to move from console. car has windsheild and they work inside cars. It don't do it often but when I realise it has stop ,no time to adjust for brushpile.

Gene, Looking at your remodeling pictures, there's a lot of windshield frame right around the GPS unit. The aluminum framing could be blocking the GPS signal. Especially when it's mostly only happening in one direction. I wonder if your unit has a plug in for an external antenna?

Ron, I think Gene's unit is internal antenna only..

Hello Gene, I know your's is an internal antenna, that's probably why you are now having the problem with the installed windshield. But some internal antenna units allow the use of an external antenna too. They have an extra plug for it. If your 339 has the plug receptacle, you may be able to use the front antenna to see if it is the windshield causing the problem.

Ron, I pulled up the manual from Lowrance and could not find where Gene's unit will accept an ext antenna..I might have overlook it though..
