Interference can be a monster that generates from any of several different places..commonly it's attributed to the TM...but not always...

    It can be the boat's wiring...another DF....other electronics...etc

Each boat's setup is different which makes each interference possibility different..

Kosmo has posted dozens of images that show no interference on his 597...

I would suggest buying the DF that you find will best fit your fishing needs...install ...and see what happens...

Every DF purchaser doesn't experience interference issues...we just mostly hear about the ones that do on the forums...because they are looking for help...

The lucky ones (that don't have interference issues) are too busy fishing to post about problems they're not experiencing....

There is a 587ci HD DI unit. It’s a special unit that we made for Cabela’s. Basically it is a 587ci HD unit plus the DI sonar, so it will have a little less powerful transmitter and a lower vertical pixel count in the display. Otherwise it should work the same as the 597ci HD DI unit.

humminbird greg- I am wondering if the price difference between the 587ci hd di and the 597ci hd di is worth it. I see that the 587 is 2400 watts and the 597 is 4000 watts peak to peak. Exactly what is peak to peak watts? Does it mean it emmits a stronger signal? Is this really the only difference besides the horizontal pixels? If it where you, which would you get and why. Also bass pro has a $75 dollar mail in gift card to bass pro if you buy the 597ci hd di unit this month making it around $575+tax.

The peak-to-peak wattage refers to the strength of the sonar signal at its maximum power level. I checked on this and found out that I referred to the 2D version of the 587ci HD unit which has a different sonar mix in it. The wattage for the 587ci HD DI is the same as the 597ci HD DI (4,000 watts peak-to-peak) – sorry about that.

So the difference is in the display. I’m a gadget guy so my option would be to save a little more and go for a 700 series DI unit so that I could link it to another unit, but you may not want to do that. If my wife gave me the go ahead to buy something I would have to buy something than before she changed her mind and so would go with the 597ci HD DI unit due to the wider display. This will help when you are looking at any combination View, but only you can decide if it is worth the extra $125 to do so.
