Default Remote Lock: An all new function of the updated Minn Kota i-Pilot

I demand a lot from my equipment, and unfortunately, some of my gear doesn't necessarily receive the gentle treatment that it deserves. My i-Pilot remote is one piece of gear that sometimes bounces around the deck of my boat, gets stepped or knelt on, or dropped from my pocket onto the deck. In the older i-Pilot systems, events such as these would tend to deactivate any of the i-Pilot functions that was active at the time of the event. Happily, those days are now behind us; the updated Minn Kota i-Pilot system now includes a Remote Lock function to prevent accidental activation or deactivation of any of the i-Pilot boat control functions. Check out the video at the link below to see Remote Lock in action on a late fall crappie trip:

The last information I had about product availability was that pre-rigged i-Pilots on trolling motors were going to be available first, with new controller + remote packages or updated remotes available later. I suspect we'll see broad availability shortly. The new controller + remote packages would sure make for nice stocking stuffers!!

Jason i guess in saying this, that we should be understanding that the old version of i-pilot will be able to be updated to the new version specs? any idea on how much this may cost? thanks

An updated remote is compatible with the current head unit (controller). The new remote will retail for ~ 160. Under this scenario, you would still be limited to the original 3 spot lock locations and 3 recorded tracks.

An updated controller + head unit will retail for ~ 450. This is how you would access the expanded memory for track record and spot lock.

they always do, jbornhop, they always do, but if we wait, we will be waiting for ever, cause they are going to keep getting better, another 20 years and you will just send the boat out and program how many fish and what kind and the boat will leave and come back with a mess of fish..... pffffffttt on that
