Default Help choosing a new depth finder...

Looking for something affordable and even more importantly, reliable. My only criteria are that it is a gps/sonar combo with water temperature and good speed readings for trolling. I'm willing to spend $500 but ideally I'd like a unit that is $300-$400. Anyone got any recomendations? TIA

I can't give you any reviews, YET. But I just went to Cabelas last night and bought the HB 597CI HD DI combo. It was on sale at
$599. Could of got another $25 off if I would of took the time to fill out for a Cabelas card.
It has the traditional sonar, downscan, temp and the GPS. Hope to get it mounted this weekend. Probably won't get a chance to get it wet until next weekend at KY lake.
Crappie spawning and morels popping up at the same time. What was God thinking when he made that schedule. It's pure torture every spring deciding which to do.

No sorry I don't. All I have done is open the box. I will say this. There is squat in the manual as to settings and how to get to various screens. The manual if you want to call it that is a total waste of paper. WAY more info right here on this forum than anywhere I have seen. Thumbs Up

Make sure you get visual prof of speeds on GPS if you need less than 0.5 mph, cause it may not happen on the HB....................other than that nice units

I'm pretty sure the HB will register GPS speed down to 0.1mph... But the directional boat shaped icon on the chart turns into a "Donut" below 0.6mph...

Sadly... That's how the HBs are designed to work...speed... Yes...directional indication below 0.6mph...no...
