    Default Humminbirds latest fix

Just got this E mail... I'm at work and was wondering if anyone had up loaded it yet and if it addresses the "donut issue ???? Here is a copy of whats included in the upload. Frequently Asked Questions

What changes are included in software version 5.410?

    This release affected models: 1198c, 1158c, 998c, 958c, 898c, 858c, 798ci HD, 788ci HD, and 778c HD
Ethernet capability was added for all of the above models.
It also corrected Interlink issues including disconnection issues, phanton waypoints and additional icons
On the 1198 it resolved the occasional blinking white left column when in full screen side imaging
    Added annotations to chart layers
Fixed issues relating to navigating at slow speeds

I'm running software version 5.450 on my 798 - did they go backwards? As to the donut issue on mine, it will give you a donut if you aren't moving, but moving pretty slow will give you direction, at least a general direction. It seems to take a little bit to get the exact right direction, but it is much more helpful than before. Also the fixed the deep water reading when in mucky shallow water - sort of. It will still read deep, but then those returns are disregarded by the unit. It works alright - I'm happy anyway.

The latest available software version number is dependant on which model unit you have. So not all units will have the same software version number.

The 5.510 version software was released for the 957c units back in April.
Depending which 798 model you have the latest software could be 5.210, 5.450 or 5.500.

Just ordered a 788 ci HD to go with my 898 si. Hopefully these updates will make them a harmonious pair and me a happy fisherman!!!
Give a man a fish and feed him for a day.
Teach a man to fish and he'll sit in a boat and drink beer all day!

I don't remember exaclty, but before, if you weren't moving along about 1/1.5mph or more it would donut you. I installed a compass on my boat so I would be able to look at the map and direction at the same time. If I recall, you could be moving at .2 or.3 mph and it would give you diretion - but don't quote me on those speeds. My troller switch broke last week and it is stuck on speed 4 and 5 so I can't test it now. Sometimes with just drifting it would give direction.

My experience with the "Donut" is less than 0.6mph shows the "Donut"...

I have downloaded the latest release from HB for my 1197 but I haven't yet been able to test it on the water...

Does anyone have on the water confirmation that any of the new SW releases have affected the "Donut"...??

Had my 997 on the water--donut still there at about .6 and below. However, I noticed (perhaps others have as well) that I don't lose POSITION" while going slow. In other words, the donut moves as the GPS updates in relation to the waypoint, and it's dead on in terms of direction from the point. Not sure, but I think I saw a setting where you can affect frequency of update too.
