    I had acouple of people ask me what my 2d settings were on another thread when I posted a few screen shots.
    here ya go
    sensitivity= -6%
    colorline= 81%
    ping speed= max
    noise rejection= low
    surface clarity= low
    fishing mode= shallow water
    Transducer= 200khz
    I haven't messed with it much but I think the unit should or could get a much better pic than what is shown.
    The problem I'm having is a good one. I'm simply so busy catching fish, I have no incentive to mess with the electronics.

    Great information CrappieMax! How would you describe the water that you took this shot on, in terms of clarity?

    Just the normal summer color for most mid-west lakes. It's clear but not like tap water.
    I think the unit is capable of much better pics in 2d. I just messed with it for a few minutes one day. With the original settings the screen was way too cluttered. I think Black and white units are way easier to set up with 2d. Only 1 thing to consider, is my pic clear? With color, there's too many buttons. I need to retire so I can figure this thing out. LOL

    I think the pic looks good. Looks like on the SS/DS you can see the thermocline, There is a hint of it on the 2d. Great starting point for others. In the lakes I fish, you are lucky if there's 3-6 inches of visibility, so settings are a bit different for me.

    Because of mud?

    Not sure why. There is a couple clear water lakes in Missouri, but I don't live very close to any of them.

    Ohio doesn't have any clear lakes that I'm aware of. Everything here has some color. I guess visability may be 8"-12". It's about like Ky Lake if you've ever been there.

    great information,crappiemax. on the sonar pic it looks like blobs instead of arches, as mine does at time. on the structure scan a lot of fish you can see seperated. i love running the si, di and sonar all on one screen , comparing them really helps my learning curve and seperates the structure from the fish when you look at the si and di
    what were your settings on the sonar if you remember?

    Go to post # 101 it's all on there.

    I think arches become blobs as the screen size shrinks, simply the blobs would have elongated if the screen size were larger. Boat speed vs screen speed has alot to do with the arches too. I don't worry about the arches.
    I think that thermocline should show up better but I have too much filtering going on somehow to clear up the screen that the thermocline is muted out. I know the unit is capable of better, I just need to get it set right. It's all about the proper settings. I really don't know exactly what needs to change but I'll play with it until I see what I want. I had a Low x-15mt that had a fantastic screen pic, it too about 2 years to tweek it to my liking.
    I'm like most folks, I don't really know what all the buttons do (cause & effect) but if I'm not happy I just keep playing until I get what I want.
