I let my parents borrow my trolling motor and now it only has 4th speed. Even if I have the knob turned off it still spins when i hit the button or switch on continuous. Any ideas on how to fix it?
The guy I bought the boat from said the troller was bought last summer. These come with a 2 year warranty right?

proably the set screw not too tough to get to
I looked at the 5 speed switch tonight and noticed the thread arm that the speed knob is supposed to control wouldn't spin at all. I'm guessing it should spin pretty easily and that's what lets you change the speeds correct? Here's a picture. It looks pretty corroded.

might check your plastic knob, if it is split a little it could be just turning on the shaft.
Wouldn't I be able to turn it with pliers though if that was the case? I couldn't get anything to turn at all.
