Default Made me a tm mount

A couple weeks back I ask if anyone had plans to make a tm mount for the front of my boat. I didnt get any plans so today I broke out the welder and got busy. This is what I came up with and it works pretty darn good if I may so so myself. If you look in the dead center of it their is a clevis hook, you can pull that hook and the mount slides out leaving only the section of tube that is bolted to the boat. I may go back and add some more reinforcement to the 2x4, we will have to see how that holds up. What do you think ?

    Thanks, Stan

stan, mark the very top of the tm clamp "washer" and the bottom. take the 2x4 off and with a table saw set the blade to cut an 1/8 or a little deeper and cut that board from mark to mark to make a place for the "washers" to set down in. if you don't no matter how tight you tighten them they will work loose and the tm will try to slip off the board. with that "slot" cut it can work loose but it can't slip. i've had'em come off the board before.

Thanks, I have been considering putting a piece of steel on the back to add support, I just dont trust the 2x4 with those holes in the same grain like that and that close to the edge. So if I do that I will most likely drill a hole through both the mount and the motor and bolt it to the mount so it cannot slide off even if it does come loose. But not bad all in all for a first run, I am sure as I use it other things will come up that I will wish I had done, like be able to swivel it side to side, AHH crap I better quit now LOL!!

    Thanks, Guys

Looks good. If you're worried about the 2 by splitting. Wood glue a square ot 1/4 inch plywood to one side of the 2x4.
