Default Trolling motor interference---- What has worked for you ?

I am looking for success stories, not " possible solutions "

I am especially interested in curing TMI on HB 798 . 2d sonar is
beautiful, only si and di are affected.
Trolling motor is a two year old Minkota Riptide.
I am going to rewire the unit back directly to the start battery,

Not real confident that will work.

    Thanks

Where are your transducers mounted, and what kind of trolling motor do you have?

looking and getting is two different things. There exists no silver bullet for electrical interference.

On my terrova and 898, connecting the negatives of the starting battery and the TM battery worked.

I know someone that thought they had TM interference, but had noise on 2d as well. Turned out to be transducer mount was loose. ( I know this isn't your prob as 2d is ok, but figured it might help someone someday ).

I guess I could have stated it more tactfully , but I really want to hear from people who have actually had success, I have read up on all the
theoretical fixes , I was hoping to spot a pattern on what actually worked for folks with 798's.

    Catfan--
it is mounted on a MK riptide, with a bracket from Transducer Shield and Saver - See More Fish, Catch More Fish!.

    thanks

Problem is there are numerous causes, so the solution is going to depend on the cause.

Is the Riptide a US2 motor and if so do you use the buit-in transducer? If it's a US2, I'd check the fuse in the head.

Next step IMO, is to take the transducer loose from the TM and hang it over the side in the water and see if the interference is still there. The more you can get separation between TM wiring and FF wiring, the better off you will be, both for the test and normal operation. This will help narrow down where the problem originates.

I have a terrova and had terrible interference.Took it to an authorized dealer and had them install a ground internally in the motor and ran it out to the negative side of my TM plug.Killed all interference

This worked for me. I put the p11 power cable on the new 597 di. That cut down on the problem until I was in 6ft of water or less. So I tried a peice of rubber hose between the transducer and the trolling motor. That fixed the problem. I have a mg trolling motor. these were the fixes I got from reading other post on the interfence problems.
