So , Now I am wondering If the compact transducer is working for anybody ? Or is it a complete POS when it comes to trolling motor applications ?
I have always thought it was strange that you could not buy a unit with a trolling motor ducer included. Every bow unit I have bought and it must be
at 8 or 10 by now , I had to do some kind of transducer exhange or special bracket.

Don't get your hopes too high on the larger ducer just yet.

They have had interference trouble also. It seems to be hit and miss. Some folks don't get it, some do. Those that do, some get out of it and others don't.

I have a 798 on the TM. I had interference with the 798 transducer on DI and SI but not 2D. HB sent me a interference kit free. It had the big transducer which is shielded and real nice choke for the 24 volt TM. No more interference.

I think on a floating system all commons should be connected.

Yeah, I replied earlier that connecting my commons together got me out of mine. I've also read reports of others that this caused increased interference. It just all depends on your particular situation.

I'm glad my little jumper from Minnkotat did the trick.

I got my full sized transducer installed yesterday . It works like a champ,
Great images , no interference at all.

If you are thinking about a 798 on the bow , I strongly recommend
    Getting the bigger ducer

Thanks to all that replied ,,

I had a 798 on the bow with the compact transducer and no issues. I have since upgraded to a larger unit and a new trolling motor. I will give that setup a test run today.

I am especially interested in curing TMI on HB 798 . 2d sonar is
beautiful, only si and di are affected.
Trolling motor is a two year old Minkota Riptide.
I am going to rewire the unit back directly to the start battery,

Not real confident that will work.

    Thanks

I fought the interference problem for about a year. I did everything, and I do mean everything, everyone told me to do but all to no avail. The big mistake was not sending screen shots to HB so they could show the Engineers/Techs exactly what I was talking about. After I sent in the photos it was determined that what I was seeing was not electrical interference.

I still have not resolved the problem, sorry to say, but I am not going to give up. I have not been on the water lately but I will start working on the problem again very soon.

I highly recommend that you contact HB and make arraingements with them to send some screen shots and let those in the know take a look to see if you are having electrical interference or a problem such as mine.

PM me if I can be of any help to you.
