it is mounted on a MK riptide, with a bracket from Transducer Shield and Saver - See More Fish, Catch More Fish!.

700 series, 800 series, 900 series, 1100 series with TM inteference usually troubleshot the same. But, if you only wanna hear from folks with 798's and riptides, so be it.

The 798 comes with a different transducer than the 800, 900, and 1100 series. Those transducers are sheilded where the 798 aren't. In the interference kit that HB has includes the new sheilded transducer along with a choke for the TM and some ferite rings. This kit is free and clears up the interference.

I just installed the new bird 570DI unit on my boat sat, took it out sunday and had interfence when I would run the trolling motor, I run a 80# motor guide variable speed, they say the RC? switch in the variable speed causes this? talked to humminbird today and they recommend changing my noise level to a higher setting, they are set at low at the factory, if this don't do it then run a gound wire from the skeg of the tm to the neg.. side of the cranking battery is where my units power comes from..... I have also wrapped a piece of rubber around the tm head making sure the transducer holder and clamps are not touching the tm head.... then there last resort is to install a tcm1 filter between the unit and the tm....... sure a lot of crap to go through just to make it work right.........

I don't understand the rubber insulator because the transducer mold itself is a nonconductor.

Olesilverside... Did you have the interference on the DI or the sonar side or both. I also have the 570DI and have some interference on the sonar but the DI is clear. I have a MK trolling motor with no variable speed just 1-5 settings.

My 788 only does it on 2D, the DI is clear. I'm going to work on a few items this week and see if I can get it to clear. It only does it at certain speeds, not all speeds causes the interference.

I said I was especially interested in 798's, but if you have some thing to share besides attitude , Please share. I wanted to hear from 700 series folks because the 700's are shipped with
a different transducer than the other units. I suspected that is the root of my problem , was hoping to hear of fixes other than tranducer replacement.

    OK--
talking with HB customer service , they recommended that I get the larger transducer. I am shipping mine back today. Hopefully soon , I will have a full
    operational 798 on the bow.

    Thanks

Interference is an elusive critter to track down sometimes...keep at it...

What works for some may not work for others..

Let us know how the new xducer works...

This is different from you're problem but my 747c had interference problems with my US2, I tried everything but the choke. Humminbirds customer service told me it was not for my unit. So I installed a XTM 9-20 T transducer and have no interference issues at all.
