hummingbird si units were not meant to be di.they dont have di element. lowrance does have di eliminate .hummingbird uses the two si eliments to get there di. the two si eliements send the signal away from the boat at an angle,but there is still coverage directly below the boat. no manipulation,what it sees is what you get.theres a weaker signal in the di area because of the lack of di element .for this reason lowrance will have better di quality . i hope this helps. if you have more questions please ask
