After looking around on the web a bit, I see a couple things Faadan. First, auto should be your setting on almost everything, contrast would be what you want to adjust. Just as with the LSS-1 movement will get you the best images, sitting still, will work, but it will show more like 2d, if a fish swims through, it'll look like 2d with a line going through. The crystal in the DSI ducer appears to be smaller then the LSS-1, so this will work a little differently. I may buy one of these, and put it up by my HDS5 at the trolling motor. I've seen a lot of reports of people getting the very near, or exactly the quality of the images Lowrance put out.
Make sure your transducer is level, when you are scanning. This has an impact on image quality.
